Preparing to take the ACT® test doesn’t have to be an overwhelming endeavor. There are many ways to prepare.
Here are four easy steps your students can take to prepare for test day.
TAKE A PRACTICE TEST—Taking a free practice ACT test helps your students familiarize themselves with the format and types of questions asked. After taking a practice test, students can take note of their strengths and (more importantly) identify areas where they can improve.
PLAN PRACTICE AND STUDY TIME—Encourage your students to set aside small amounts of time devoted to studying over an extended period. They can keep a calendar of their schedules, but they should be sure to keep it flexible for surprise homework assignments, extracurricular activities, and fun.
KEEP A POSITIVE ATTITUDE—Encourage students to practice positive thinking: to imagine themselves sitting in the quiet test room and meeting the challenge. A good outlook can make all the difference!
CONSIDER ACT TEST PREP OPTIONS—There are free and paid test prep options from ACT that can help students become more familiar with the computer-based test format, gain confidence, and be ready on test day.
